Transitions Optical Sponsors Food Network Event in Florida

Posted 4045 days ago from opticalvisionresources.com

MIAMI, Feb, 2013 – To kick off its 2013 Official Sponsor of Sightseeing™ (OSS) campaign, Transitions Optical, Inc. sponsored the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE from February 22-24 in Miami. During the weekend, more than 30,000 attendees had a chance to learn more about the importance of eye health and healthy eating habits through a series of events and activities sponsored by Transitions Optical, including special appearances by celebrity chefs Robert Irvine and Ana Quincoces.

“Through our activities at the food festival and our greater reach through social media and other special appearances throughout the year, we’ll be working in partnership with our celebrity chefs to promote the importance of healthy eating and taking care of your eyes – so you can keep enjoying your passions to their fullest throughout your life,” said Dan McLean, senior marketing manager, communications, Transitions Optical.  “Connecting vision to your passions is a powerful way to ignite interest and enhance brand engagement, helping us drive more educated and motivated patients to their eyecare professionals.”

To help remind children and their families about the importance of proper eye care and eyewear as part of an overall healthy lifestyle, Transitions Optical sponsored a tent within the “Fun and Fit as a Family” section at Jungle Island. Children who visited the Transitions® adaptive lenses tent and were encouraged to participate in the “My Eye Promise” program – pledging to take care of their eyes for the future. Transitions Optical partnered with Jennifer Frances from Bess the Book Bus to distribute free children’s books and Eye Didn’t Know That! materials in both English and Spanish. Transitions Optical also distributed brochures from its What to Expect series to further educate attendees on the eye health issues common among children and various ethnic groups.

To enhance the experience and promote the important role that a healthy diet plays in both eye and overall health, Transitions Optical brought in two celebrity chefs to share eye healthy tips and recipes with attendees. Hispanic chef Ana Quincoces – bestselling author of Sabor! A Passion for Cuban Cuisine and star of Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of Miami – stopped by the tent on Saturday to discuss how her family maintains healthy lifestyles and provide tips on incorporating eye healthy ingredients into families’ meals. She was joined by a nutritionist from the American Diabetes Association who further discussed the importance of eating a nutritious diet and the impact that diabetes can have on vision.

OSS ambassador Robert Irvine – best known for the Food Network show Restaurant Impossible – also attended the event on Sunday to share his own personal story about why vision is so important to him and how he considers healthy vision to be an important part of an overall, healthy lifestyle. He also shared signed recipe cards with attendees, which are available for download through the My Industry” section of MyMulticulturalToolkit.com and through the Transitions Lenses: Healthy Sight Professionals Facebook page.

“To me, enhanced vision means seeing my best by eating eye healthy foods, maintaining an active lifestyle and wearing eyewear that allows me to see clearly and comfortably,” said Irvine. “I am thrilled to have participated in the Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival with Transitions Optical, to share my story with others and encourage them to care for their eyes and ask their eye doctor about Transitions lenses.”

Attendees at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival had a chance to taste all of the recipes within Transitions Optical’s “Feast Your Eyes Enhanced Vision Experience” pavilion within the Grand Tasting Village. The two-story  “Feast Your Eyes Enhanced Vision Experience” pavilion also served as a venue for attendees to try out the full range of Transitions adaptive lens products, including Transitions® lenses, Transitions® XTRActive® lenses and Transitions® Vantage™ lenses. Attendees also had a chance to “sightsee” through viewfinders at the Festival and along South Beach, and participate in an interactive photo shoot and get their picture taken in front of scenic view.
